Modern Diesel is a Christian, veteran-owned diesel and commercial truck repair shop in East Austin — 11+ years of honest work, straight talk, and pride in every job.
The shop
Since 2015, Modern Diesel has kept Central Texas rolling from our shop at 2900 N FM 973, Austin, TX 78725. We work on light-, medium-, and heavy-duty diesel — pickups, semis, trailers, Sprinter vans, import diesels, and off-road diesel equipment — plus the gasoline trucks, cars, SUVs, and vans our customers bring us.
Under new ownership
Modern Diesel is owned and operated by Viatores Motors LLC, which in April 2026 purchased the shop's assets — including the Modern Diesel name — and kept its technicians on. The shop has served Austin since 2015; it operated under previous ownership before the sale.
Same shop, same address, same phone, and the same techs under the hood — new owner.
Family-owned, and staying that way
Viatores Motors LLC is family-owned — not private equity, not a roll-up, not a national chain — and we intend to keep it that way. Diesel and auto repair are being bought up fast by investment groups, and when a shop gets absorbed the changes show up on your invoice: service writers working to quotas, decisions made in another state, and prices set by someone who has never seen your truck.
We answer to our customers and our technicians. The person who owns this shop is the person you can get on the phone — and the plan is for that to be true in ten years too.
Under that new ownership the shop is veteran-owned and operated, verified by the Texas Veterans Commission, and we run it the way we served: do the job right, tell the truth about what the vehicle needs, and stand behind the work. Our faith isn't a slogan — it sets the standard for how we treat every customer, every day.
