Modern Diesel is amazing. We've been working with them for more than 3 years now. The service they provide is not only great for our vehicles and keeps us running but they also go the extra mile with concierge services coming to pick up our vehicles from our location, service them and return to us. They allow my team to stay focused on what we do best.

Fleet management

What is fleet management as a service?

Fleet management as a service means Modern Diesel plans, runs, and tracks your entire vehicle maintenance program for you — scheduling preventative maintenance, handling repairs, managing DOT inspections, and reporting fleet status through the FleetGood portal — so your business doesn't need a dedicated fleet manager.

  • No fleet manager neededWe do the tracking, scheduling, and follow-up a fleet manager would — without the salary.
  • Your people stay on their jobsNobody on your team burns hours chasing service records or juggling shop visits.
  • The FleetGood portalService status, history, and upcoming work at a glance — instead of another call to the shop.
Fleet concierge

How does fleet concierge pickup and delivery work?

For qualifying fleet accounts, an insured Modern Diesel driver — CDL-licensed when the vehicle requires it — collects your vehicle from your location, we repair it at our fully equipped Austin shop, and return it ready to work — no callout fees. Non-CDL loaner vehicles and a shuttle are available to keep your crew moving.

  • Licensed drivers, CDL when neededCollected by an insured driver from our team, CDL-licensed when the vehicle requires it — the road test starts the moment we pull away.
  • Real bays, not parking lotsLifts, diagnostics, alignment, tires, and parts on the shelf — work a service van can’t do curbside.
  • Secure stagingRoom to hold and stage your trucks, so repairs start the moment a bay opens.
  • Faster turns, better ratesNo callout or mileage fees — and when it’s more than a quick fix, a staffed shop turns big repairs far faster than one tech and a van.
  • Loaner vehiclesAsk about a loaner (non-CDL vehicles) to keep your crew moving while we work.
  • Shuttle serviceDrop a truck off and we’ll get you back to the yard or the office.

Do you perform fleet repairs on-site at our business location?

Yes. For business customers under a fleet service agreement, Modern Diesel performs diagnostics and repairs on-site at your yard or facility anywhere in the Greater Austin Area, in addition to full-service work at our Austin shop.

For bigger jobs, our fleet repair services run in fully equipped bays — lifts, alignment, diagnostics, and parts on the shelf — work a service van can't do curbside. Coverage area and terms are set in your fleet agreement; call 512-273-7351.

How much does fleet maintenance cost in Austin?

We quote fleet work from a diagnosis rather than a price list, so there is no menu rate to publish. Fleet pricing, billing terms, and coverage are set per agreement — based on your vehicle count, vehicle types, and how hard you run them — and put in writing before anything is signed.

The comparison worth making is not against zero, but against one down truck. Work out what a day of downtime costs you — lost revenue, a driver standing around, a missed customer commitment, an emergency repair at emergency prices — then ask how many of those a year a real maintenance program prevents. For most fleets the arithmetic stops being close. Call 512-273-7351 and we'll scope it honestly, including telling you if you don't need a program yet. See service options for how the levels compare.

What are the benefits of fleet management?

Fleet management turns vehicle upkeep from a series of emergencies into a schedule. Here is what businesses actually feel once a fleet program is running.

  • Fewer breakdownsPreventative maintenance happens before something fails, instead of after it strands a driver.
  • Less downtimeA down truck gets priority scheduling — no calling around for a shop with an opening.
  • Lower cost per vehicleFleet pricing, plus catching small problems while they are still small.
  • Less adminOne point of contact and one invoice instead of chasing several vendors.
  • Better recordsDOT inspections and service history tracked in one place, not a spreadsheet.
  • Predictable budgetingScheduled work you can plan around rather than surprise repair bills.

How do I choose the best fleet maintenance company in Austin?

Compare fleet maintenance companies on four things — then hold everyone, including us, to them.

  • One shop, whole fleetA fully equipped shop that handles your whole range of vehicles, light-duty through heavy-duty, under one roof.
  • A program, not remindersPreventative maintenance the shop schedules and drives — not a list you have to chase.
  • TransparencyWritten estimates, line-by-line approvals, and service history you can actually see.
  • Logistics that keep trucks earningPriority scheduling for down vehicles and concierge pickup and delivery.

Modern Diesel builds its fleet service agreements around all four — call fleet sales at 512-273-7351 and compare us on exactly those terms.

Three ways to work with us

However much of it you want to hand over

Fleets are not all at the same place. Some have nobody running maintenance, some have a fleet manager buried in reactive work, and some have their own technicians and just need capacity. Find yours.

  1. We run the programFleet management as a service. No fleet manager on your payroll and nobody on your team pulled off their real job. We plan the maintenance, schedule it, do the work, handle DOT inspections, and report status through the FleetGood portal. This page is about that option.
  2. You keep your manager — we do the workYou already have someone running the fleet. Keep them. They get the FleetGood portal to approve estimates line by line and watch every unit, and we take the reactive grind — booking, chasing statuses, coordinating vendors. Or take the service without the software. Fleet maintenance support →
  3. You have your own shop — we're the back shopYour people keep the fleet serviced. We take the work they aren't set up for — diagnostics, aftertreatment, transmissions, heavy-duty alignment — and the overflow when someone's out or the season lands all at once. Back shop & flex capacity →
