Diesel Service

Where We Work

East Austin shop, whole-metro reach — and a location that puts us closer to the corridors your trucks actually run than a shop off I-35.

Why the location matters

We are a diesel and commercial truck repair shop in Austin, Texas2900 N FM 973, Austin, TX 78725, on FM 973 — the road that runs parallel to SH-130 between US-290 and US-71. For commercial traffic that is a useful place to be: trucks bypassing Austin on 130, fleets working the airport and industrial corridors, and businesses east and north of town can all reach us without crossing I-35 or driving through downtown.

Cities

  • Austin — An East Austin shop, on the side of town the trucks are already on — no I-35, no downtown, and room for a full-size rig when you get here.
  • Del Valle — We're not 'near' Del Valle — we're in it. The shop sits on FM 973, which is the road most of your trucks are already on.
  • Pflugerville — Pflugerville runs on box trucks and delivery vans. We service the ones that live on SH-130 — and we know why their DPFs keep loading.
  • Round Rock — Plenty of shops up I-35 will take your truck. Fewer will tell you what it actually needs — and fewer still answer to a family rather than an investment group.
  • Manor — Manor is straight up the road. If you run trucks out of here, we're the closest real shop you have.
  • Elgin — A straight shot west on 290 — and a shop that works on the ag equipment and haul trucks Elgin actually runs.
  • Kyle — I-35 South growth country. If your trucks are stuck in that traffic anyway, we will come get them.
  • Georgetown — One of the fastest-growing cities in the country runs on dump trucks and mixers. We keep them working — and we will come get them.
  • Buda — Distribution country on I-35 South. The drive is the expensive part — so for fleets, we remove it.
  • Cedar Park — Northwest suburb, east-side shop. For one truck that is a real drive — for a fleet, we come to you.
  • Hutto — A construction town on the toll road. The route to us is the same road your trucks already run — straight down 130, no interstate.
  • Taylor — An ag town that became a construction town. Two very different fleets, both working out of the same few square miles.

Corridors

  • SH-130 — If you run 130 to skip I-35 through Austin, you are already passing us. The shop sits on FM 973, one road over.
  • I-35 — Everybody is stuck on 35. The point of our location is that you do not have to be.
  • US-183 — The Bergstrom Expressway runs down our side of town — airport freight, delivery fleets, and the trades that live on it.
  • US-71 — The airport highway. Cargo, event logistics, and the Bastrop run — and we are minutes off it.
  • US-290 — East 290 is our corridor — Manor, Elgin, and the freight running toward Houston.
  • SH-45 — The connector. SH-45 is how a lot of fleets skip the worst of Austin to reach us.
  • MoPac — MoPac is a commuter road, not a freight route — so the diesel on it is service fleets and vans, and we work on those too.

Common questions

What areas does Modern Diesel serve?

We serve the Greater Austin Area from our shop at 2900 N FM 973 in Austin, 78725 — Travis, Bastrop, Williamson, and Hays counties. That includes Del Valle, Manor, Elgin, Pflugerville, Round Rock, Hutto, Taylor, Georgetown, Bastrop, Buda, Kyle, and the surrounding towns, plus the SH-130, US-183, US-290, and US-71 corridors.

Do you come to us, or do we come to you?

Both, depending on the work and the account. Business customers on a fleet agreement can get on-site diagnostics and repairs at their yard by appointment, or concierge pickup and delivery where an insured driver collects the truck and returns it repaired, CDL-licensed when the vehicle requires it. Anything needing a lift, alignment rack, or heavy tooling turns faster in our bays.

Is there a limit to how far you will travel for on-site service?

Coverage area and terms are set in your fleet agreement rather than by a fixed radius, because it depends on the work and how many vehicles are involved. Call fleet sales at 512-273-7351 with your location and fleet size and we will tell you plainly what makes sense.
