Two companies built your motorhome

Every Winnebago motorhome is two things: a coach Winnebago built, and a chassis somebody else built. That split is not trivia — it decides who services what, who warrants what, and why the dealer that sold you the coach often cannot help with a fault code.

The coachbuilder warrants the house it made. The chassis manufacturer warrants and services the chassis and drivetrain through its own network. So an RV service center will fix a slide and send the engine work back out. We are an independent shop for that mechanical half.

What's under which Winnebago

Mercedes-Benz Sprinter — the diesels:

• View and Navion — Class C coaches on a Sprinter cab chassis
• Era, Boldt, and Revel — Class B builds inside the Sprinter van, with 4WD offered on Boldt and Revel

On all of these the engine depends on the year: roughly 2019 through 2022 is the 3.0L V6 turbodiesel, and from the 2023 model year the V6 was replaced by a 2.0L four-cylinder. They do not share parts. See Sprinter RV repair for how we work on these, and Mercedes diesel for the engine itself.

Class A diesel pushers:

• Forza and Horizon — Cummins power on a Freightliner chassis

Those are diesel pusher work: air brakes, air suspension, and a Cummins in the back, which is what sits in our bays all week.

Not every Winnebago is a diesel. The EKKO is built on a Ford Transit, and the Travato and Solis are Ram ProMasters — gasoline chassis. Worth knowing before you shop, and worth telling us when you call.

What we service

• Engine diagnostics, fuel systems, and leaks
• DEF and SCR faults and DPF loading — common on coaches that idle and sit
• Brakes, including air brakes on the Class A coaches
• Cooling systems — what decides how a summer grade goes
• Transmission, driveline, suspension, and steering
• Tires and alignment, with tire age checked and not just tread
• Chassis electrical and charging — the vehicle's systems, not the house

Before you travel

These vehicles are broken by sitting far more than by driving. An RV pre-trip inspection, booked four to six weeks before you leave, is the cheapest way to find the problem here instead of somewhere with no shop for 200 miles.

We are not affiliated with Winnebago, Mercedes-Benz, or Freightliner, and we are not an authorized service center for any of them. We service the chassis, engine, and drivetrain. House systems and generators are not something we take on — that stays with an RV service center.

Common questions

Which Winnebagos are diesel?

The Sprinter-based ones and the Class A diesel pushers. View and Navion are Class C coaches on a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter cab chassis; Era, Boldt, and Revel are Class B Sprinter builds. On the Class A side, Forza and Horizon are diesel pushers with Cummins power on a Freightliner chassis. The EKKO is a Ford Transit and the Travato and Solis are Ram ProMasters — those are gasoline.

What engine is in my View or Navion?

It depends on the year. Sprinters from roughly 2019 through 2022 use the 3.0L V6 turbodiesel; from the 2023 model year Mercedes dropped the V6 for a 2.0L four-cylinder, so newer View and Navion coaches are four-cylinder. The generations do not share parts. Give us the year when you call.

Are you a Winnebago dealer or authorized service center?

No. We have no affiliation with Winnebago, Mercedes-Benz, or Freightliner. We are an independent diesel shop that services the chassis and drivetrain under the coach — and has bays that fit it.

My Winnebago dealer will not do engine work. Is that normal?

It is completely normal, and it is structural rather than anyone being unhelpful. The coachbuilder warrants the house it built; the chassis manufacturer warrants and services the chassis and drivetrain through its own network. So the RV dealer handles the coach and sends the mechanical work back out. We are where that work can go.

Do you work on the house side — slides, water, appliances, the generator?

No. Chassis, engine, and drivetrain only. House systems stay with an RV service center, and we do not service generators at all.
