On-Site Fleet Service in Austin, TX
We come to your yard for the work that suits it — and take the truck when it doesn't. Both, on one account.
Service at your yard, by appointment
For fleet-account customers, Modern Diesel brings diagnostics, scheduled maintenance, and many repairs to your location anywhere in the Greater Austin Area (Travis, Bastrop, Williamson, Hays). No callout fee, no mileage charge, and a technician who already knows your vehicles because the same shop maintains them.
The point is not novelty — every fleet outfit in Austin will tell you they come to you. The point is that we do the on-site work and run a full shop, so the answer to "this is bigger than we thought" is not a second vendor and a tow you arrange yourself.
What we do at your location
- Diagnostics — fault codes, live data, and driveability complaints, read where the truck sits
- Scheduled preventative maintenance — the PM interval run on your yard instead of your calendar
- Fluid and filter service — oil, fuel, air, and hydraulic
- Many brake and electrical repairs — depending on the vehicle and the fault
- DOT inspection prep — finding what would fail before the inspection does
- Fleet triage — looking at several units in one visit and telling you what to prioritise
What genuinely needs the shop
We would rather tell you this up front than arrive and find out together. Work that needs a lift, an alignment rack, tire equipment, or parts on the shelf turns dramatically faster in our bays:
- Engine, transmission, and driveline work
- Heavy-duty alignment and steering repair
- Tire mounting, balancing, and replacement
- Full brake jobs and anything requiring the truck in the air
- DPF cleaning and aftertreatment work
When that is the answer, concierge pickup and delivery means an insured driver collects the truck and returns it repaired, CDL-licensed when the vehicle requires it — so you are not spending a driver on a shop run either way.
We are not a 24/7 roadside service. We don't run tow trucks and we don't do highway callouts, and we're open Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:30 PM. On-site here means scheduled service at your yard — which is what a fleet actually runs on. If a truck is down right now, see truck-down service.
Why a shop that also comes to you beats a van
Mobile-only outfits are built around one technician and what fits in the vehicle. That model works until the job doesn't fit it — and then you are paying for a diagnosis, arranging a tow, and starting again with a second vendor who has no history on the truck. A shop that does both keeps one record, one contact, and one invoice across the whole repair, wherever it happens.
It also changes what "on-site" is for. Instead of emergency patching, it becomes the waypreventative maintenance actually gets done — on your schedule, in your yard, without pulling trucks off route one at a time.
Where we come to
Across the Greater Austin Area (Travis, Bastrop, Williamson, Hays) — Austin, Del Valle, Manor, Pflugerville, Round Rock, Elgin, Kyle, Buda, Georgetown, and Cedar Park. Coverage and terms are set in your fleet agreement rather than by a fixed radius — see the full service area.
Getting set up
On-site service comes with a fleet account. Tell us your vehicle count, types, and where you are based; we scope the work, put pricing and terms in writing, and schedule the first visit. If you already have a fleet manager and want us behind them rather than running the program, that is fleet maintenance support.

Common questions
Do you offer mobile or on-site fleet repair in Austin?
Yes, for business customers under a fleet agreement. Modern Diesel performs diagnostics, preventative maintenance, and many repairs at your yard or facility across the Greater Austin Area, by appointment. What we are not is a 24/7 roadside rescue service — we do not run tow trucks and we do not do highway callouts. On-site work here means scheduled service at your location during shop hours, which is what most fleets actually need.
What can you do at our yard, and what needs the shop?
On-site we handle diagnostics, scheduled preventative maintenance, fluid and filter service, many brake and electrical repairs, DOT inspection prep, and the kind of faults that are found faster with the truck where it sits. Work that needs a lift, an alignment rack, tire mounting equipment, or a parts room turns faster in our bays — engine and transmission work, alignments, big brake jobs, and anything requiring the truck in the air. We tell you which is which before we come out rather than making two trips out of one job.
How is this different from a mobile mechanic?
A mobile mechanic is one technician with hand tools in a van, and for a battery, a sensor, or a filter that is exactly right. The difference is what happens when the job turns out to be bigger: a van has no lift, no alignment rack, no parts room, and one pair of hands. We come to you for the work that suits it and take the truck when it does not — including collecting it ourselves through concierge pickup and delivery, so a big repair does not become your problem to transport.
What does on-site service cost?
There is no callout or mileage fee for fleet-account customers, and no separate mobile rate to publish. Coverage area, scheduling, and pricing are set in your fleet agreement based on your vehicle count, types, and where you are based, and put in writing before anything is signed. Call fleet sales at 512-273-7351 and we will scope it honestly.
How far do you travel for on-site fleet service?
Across the Greater Austin Area — Travis, Bastrop, Williamson, and Hays counties. Rather than publish a fixed radius, coverage is set in your fleet agreement, because what makes sense depends on the work and how many vehicles are involved. A yard with eight trucks needing PM is a different conversation from one van needing a sensor.
Do we need a fleet account for on-site service?
Yes. On-site service is a fleet-account benefit rather than something we offer per-visit, because it only works when we know your vehicles and their history. Anyone can bring a vehicle to the shop with no account at all — the on-site option is what a fleet agreement adds.
