Privacy Policy
How this website handles your information, and the choices you have. Last updated August 2, 2026.
This page explains what information the Modern Diesel website collects, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. In this policy, “we,” “us,” and “our” mean Viatores Motors LLC d/b/a Modern Diesel, which operates this website for our diesel and commercial truck repair business in Austin, TX.
You control the non-essential cookies. Analytics and advertising cookies are on by default for U.S. visitors. You can opt out at any time — open “Cookie preferences” in the footer of any page to reject non-essential cookies or turn categories off individually — and we automatically honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signal as an advertising opt-out.
Information we collect
Information you give us
If you contact us through a form on this website — for example a contact, service, or appointment request — we collect what you enter, typically your name, email address, phone number, vehicle details, and your message. Form submissions are sent to our customer relationship tool, HubSpot, so we can respond and keep track of the conversation. If you book an appointment, the details go to our scheduler, Cal.com. If you email or call using the links on this site, we receive whatever you choose to share with us.
To keep spam and automated abuse off our contact form, the form is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile. When you submit it, Turnstile runs a background check to confirm you are a person and passes a one-time result to us for verification. This is a security measure, not advertising, and it is not used to track you across sites. See Other services we use below.
Information collected automatically (analytics)
Unless you opt out of analytics cookies, Google Analytics 4 collects information about your visit: the pages you view, links and buttons you click, your approximate location (city or region, derived from your IP address — we do not receive your full IP), your device and browser type, the site that referred you, and similar analytics events. We use this in aggregate to understand how the site is used.
Advertising measurement
If you reached us from a Google ad and have not opted out of advertising cookies, Google Ads records that your visit or an action you took (such as submitting a form or clicking to call) resulted from that ad, so we can measure which ads are working. Unless you have opted out of marketing cookies, we also store the ad click identifier (GCLID) in a first-party cookie for up to 90 days so we can later measure which ads led to booked work; opting out — or a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, which we detect and honor — prevents this and clears any stored click identifier. See Enhanced Conversions below for the detail on hashed data.
Theme preference
If you switch between light and dark mode, that choice is saved in your browser’s local storage so the site remembers it. It stays on your device, is never sent anywhere, and clearing your browser data removes it.
Server logs
Like all websites, our host keeps standard server logs — such as IP address, browser type, and the pages requested — for security and operations. We do not use them to identify or profile visitors.
Cookies and similar technologies
This site uses cookies and similar technologies (including browser local storage). Strictly necessary storage keeps the site working; analytics and advertising cookies load unless you opt out. For the full list — cookie names, who sets them, what they do, and how long they last — see our Cookie Policy.
Google services we use
We use the following Google services. Information collected through them is also handled by Google as described in the Google Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites that use its services.
- Google Tag Manager — a tag container used to load and manage tags on this site. It does not itself collect analytics data.
- Google Analytics 4 — measures website traffic and how the site is used.
- Google Ads — measures the performance of our advertising, including conversion tracking and Enhanced Conversions.
For analytics, Google acts as our service provider (processor). For advertising, Google may also act as an independent controller of some of the data it collects.
Enhanced Conversions — hashed personal data sent to Google
To measure our Google Ads more accurately, we use a Google feature called Enhanced Conversions. When you complete a conversion action — such as submitting a contact or appointment form — the email address and/or phone number you provided are converted into an irreversible, hashed value (using the SHA-256 algorithm) before being sent to Google. Google uses that hashed value to match the conversion to a signed-in Google account for measurement, and then discards it.
- Hashing is one-way — the hashed value cannot be turned back into your email address or phone number.
- We do not send Google your raw (unhashed) email or phone for this purpose.
- This does not run if you have opted out of advertising cookies or send a GPC signal — then no hashed data is sent.
Other services we use
- HubSpot — our customer relationship manager (CRM) and forms provider. When you submit a form or we add you as a contact, HubSpot stores your details so we can respond and manage the relationship. Unless you opt out of analytics cookies, HubSpot also sets analytics cookies that tie your site visits to your contact record. See HubSpot’s Privacy Policy.
- Cal.com — our appointment scheduler. When you open the booking window and schedule, the details you enter (name, email, phone, and the appointment itself) are processed by Cal.com to book and manage your appointment. The scheduler loads only when you open it. See Cal.com’s Privacy Policy.
- Meta Pixel — if we run Facebook or Instagram ads, the Meta Pixel measures them and helps us reach similar audiences. It does not load if you opt out of marketing cookies or send a GPC signal; when active it shares page-view and conversion events with Meta. See Meta’s Privacy Policy.
- Trustindex — displays our Google reviews on this site, loaded from our Google Business Profile so they stay current. It sets no cookies and uses only session storage; loading it shares your IP address with Trustindex, as any embedded content does. See Trustindex's Privacy Policy.
- Cloudflare Turnstile — a privacy-focused, CAPTCHA-style bot check that protects our contact form from spam and automated abuse. It loads only when you interact with the form, and it verifies you are human without the puzzles or cross-site tracking of traditional CAPTCHAs. To do this it processes limited technical signals (such as your IP address and browser characteristics). It is a strictly necessary security service — it is not gated by cookie consent and is never used for advertising. See Cloudflare’s Privacy Policy.
How we use information
- To operate, maintain, and secure this website.
- To understand how visitors use the site and improve our content (analytics).
- To measure and improve our advertising (Google Ads).
- To respond to your inquiries and provide the service you ask for.
- To keep business records and meet our legal and tax obligations.
Legal bases for processing
This website is operated from the United States and is primarily governed by U.S. and Texas law, including the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act (TDPSA). Where a consent-based framework applies to you — for example, if you are in the EEA or the UK — our legal bases are:
- Consent / your choices — for analytics and advertising cookies and for Enhanced Conversions; these operate on a U.S. opt-out basis, and you can opt out at any time via Cookie preferences.
- Legitimate interests — for keeping the site secure and operational (server logs) and for running our business.
- Steps at your request / performance of a contract — to respond to an inquiry or provide a service you ask for.
How long we keep it
- Analytics data: retained in Google Analytics for the period set in our account — up to 14 months. Aggregate reports may be kept longer.
- Advertising and conversion data: retained by Google under its own policies; the conversion cookies this site sets expire within about 90 days.
- Form submissions and inquiries: kept in HubSpot as long as needed to respond and for our normal business records, then deleted.
- Appointment details: kept by Cal.com and by us for as long as needed to schedule and service your visit.
- Server logs: kept for a short period by our host for security and operations.
- Your cookie choice: stored on your device until you change it or clear your browser data.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, opt out of targeted advertising and the “sale” or “sharing” of personal data, and withdraw consent for cookies at any time. Texas residents have these rights under the TDPSA.
We do not sell your personal data for money. We honor recognized browser-based opt-out signals such as Global Privacy Control (GPC) where required by law, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. To make a request, use the contact details below — we may need to verify your identity first, and you may appeal a decision by replying to our response.
How to opt out
